Even if you are trying to lose weight, snacking is still important. Snacks are essential part of your dieting process as long as you make the right choices. Oftentimes, when trying to lose weight, we fail to recognize the importance of having snacks in between meals. You should remember that you can still have snacks without interfering with your diet. In fact, snacks have the same level of importance are your regular meals.

Trying to keep yourself from eating can only lead to frustration and make you eat more later on. You will most likely find yourself thinking more and more about food. This is not good so the best way to go is to eat in between meals to keep your self from being overly excited about food. However, your choice of snacks is critical so you have to discipline yourself on making the right choices. Here are some diet snacks that you can have in between meals if you feel your hunger pangs coming.

1. Apples

Apples are a better choice than bananas. You can eat two to three apples a day without worrying about getting fat. Apples are naturally low in calories and each apple has about 5 grams of fiber. This is the reason why you feel full longer if you take an apple for a snack. Fibre plays a role in dieting and losing weight. This is a subtle secret about fiber that you need to know

Apples give you the satisfaction of eating and having snacks without feeling guilty. It will not ruin your diet even if you have as much as three apples per day. Remember that apple has other health benefits aside from its fibre content and pleasant taste. It has natural anti-oxidants that are good for the skin. Instead of having junk foods for snacks, eat an apple instead. You will have the same feeling of fullness without adding a lot of calories.

2. String Cheese

You can have one to two string cheeses per day. Even if it is not classified as a perfect snack, it can be considered an acceptable choice due to its protein content. Protein is dominant in string cheese which makes it somehow good for snacking. It can also do a good job in filling you up when you need food the most. One or two per day would not hurt your diet.

3. Low Calorie Yogurts

Low calorie means 80 calories or less. Yogurts have more carbohydrates than protein. However, the protein in them can actually neutralize the carbohydrates so that they will not increase significantly and rapidly increase your blood sugar level. Low calorie yogurts can fill you up as well and you will feel more satisfied with it since there are quite a variety of flavors that you can choose from. Have at least 1 or 2 servings and you will feel happier knowing that you are not depriving yourself of the joy of eating. The best part is that you are making a healthy choice and you are not doing any harm to your diet. There are lots of affordable low calorie yogurts that you can choose from in the supermarkets.

Remember that snacking is good and does no harm to your diet as long as you make the right choices

Skin Care & Pregnancy 12/04/09 Posted By: Judith Allison

Skin care and pregnancy

Pregnancy is one time in your life when your entire existence goes under a major upheaval. From physical changes changes in your skin, to mental metamorphosis, everything comes under the weather, for good or for worse.

If everything else is to change, how can your skin be left out? After all, it is your skin that holds you together and hence is now responsible for accommodating another human being inside. As is evident from this, the first and most prominent impact on your skin is that of stretch marks. As your skin stretches to make more space, it leads to the purplish or pinkish stretch marks in the process.

Second comes the impact of any physical weakness due to pregnancy that might show on your skin. Well, most women suffer from iron deficiencies and the like during their pregnancy. When this does happen, it shows on your skin in form of paleness, dark under-eye circles and much more.

Tackling Those Pesky Whiteheads 10/04/09 Posted By: Judith Allison

get rid of pesky whiteheads, blackheads and blemishes

These ugly little white spots on your face might look a bit less scary than the blackheads, but believe me, they are more hazardous and a result of a greater malfunction.

Well, these whiteheads are caused when the hardened sebum or oil get accumulated in the skin. Since the clogged grease does not get oxidized due to exposure to air, the color doesn’t turn black.

If you happen to have whiteheads, you should immediately take to deep pore cleansing. Use a mixture of beauty grains and skin tonic to help you, since the gentle dermabrasive works softly on your skin and finally dislodges the whiteheads over a specific period of time.

In addition, never try to remove whiteheads forcibly, even with a blac extractor. You might just end up scarring the skin in the process. In the case of milia, as they are also known, the pores are not open and hence, forcible removal will only add to the problem.

Acne Control 6/04/09 Posted By: Judith Allison

When referring to acne control we generally imply the regular topical application of products meant to stop the acne break out and promote healing. This is the case with products that contain bezoyl peroxide, salicylic acid or powerful oily extracts, yet such treatments do have a downside too: they can be very irritant with a potentially damaging effect on the healthy skin. Acne control should therefore be taken gradually and wisely in order to prevent further harm infliction on the tissues.

A product favored by many doctor as a good acne control method is tretinoin. It triggers the peeling of the superficial skin layer and causes a de-congestion of the pores. The problem with tretinoin is that it actually makes acne worse at first before coming to clear it. Among the adverse reactions to the treatment we can count stinging, swelling, flushing and skin scaling. You can find acne control products with tretinoin as the major ingredient in the form of gels, creams and facial lotions. It’s your choice!

Adapalene is another acne control product that can only be purchased on the basis of a prescription This medication keeps the pores clear but it also triggers some very uncomfortable symptoms too: itching, local dryness, swelling and skin irritation are the most frequent. It is an absolute must to remain under professional observation during the use of this acne-control product, particularly since it is often associated with the administration of oral antibiotics too.

Other than the dermatological way to achieve acne control, cosmetic treatments do deserve some attention too. The only difficulty with cosmetic compounds is that they

can aggravate or camouflage acute acne outbreaks doing more damage than good to the skin. Thus, it is important to avoid all products that contain oil, stearic acid, lanolin or petrolatum since these will actually clog the pores and create the right environment for the development of acne. Alcohol is preferable to oil, but the best quality is available with water-based cosmetics.

Although you may put high hopes in the acne control by means of some wonder product, remember that prevention is the best way to stay in charge of the skin look. Proper information on how to care for zits so that skin healing can be complete and without scars is of paramount importance. Also pay attention to the diet rules related to skin health: you’ll be surprised to see that the low quality food you may be eating is causing lots of skin troubles afterwards.
